Where is Annah Rais longhouse located?
Annah Rais longhouse is located at Padawan District, approximately 60 km away from the Kuching city, Sarawak, Malaysia. Kuching is the capital of Sarawak & there's number of daily flights connecting from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johore Bahru, Kota Kinabalu & so on by AirAsia, Jetstar Airlines, Tiger Airways & Malaysia Airlines.
The closest city to begin your journey to Annah Rais longhouse is from Kuching, which will take approximately 1 and the half hour drive. Although the transfer duration is pretty long, you will be amazed by the scenic countryside view, beautiful mountain range, limestone hill, paddy field, palm oil plantation estate & etc.
Transportation from Kuching to Annah Rais Longhouse
Taxi is the only public transport to Annah Rais
Due to te fact that Annah Rais village is so remote & not many local will travel to such remote village so often, hence there is no bus service serving this route. The only public transport available for you is Taxi. Generally, the local Taxi will charge RM90 to RM100 for 1 way transfer from Kuching city to Annah Rais longhouse. You can hire a Taxi right in-front of you hotel, or ask the hotel's reception to book one for you. Pls agree on the price first!
Alternatively, you can also call the Kuching taxi service on your own at +60 082-232277 / +60 082-348898 to pre-arranged the taxi to pick you up at your hotel.
If you need our help for transport's arrangement
You may arrange the transport on your own, or we can also try our best to help you on transport's arrangement, please indicate it in the booking form then. We cannot guarantee on the availability of the driver on the date you travel though (we will let you know through email), but if it is available, you will pay at the lower rate that we have negotiated - RM80 one way (sedan car - max 4 pax) or RM120 one way (10-seater Van, max 10 pax). Please pay in cash directly to the driver upon picking up.
Important thing to take note!
1. Arrival time at longhouse - If you arrange your own transport to Annah Rais longhouse, please arrive longhouse by 9:30am, because the activities will start from 10am onwards and all guests & guides will leave longhouse for jungle activities at around 10am! So you are advised to start depart from Kuching latest by 8am in the morning!
2. Entrance Fee to the village - Upon arrival, there is a small booth right in front of the entrance of the longhouse. Please pay the village's entrance fee that cost RM8 per person (adult) & RM5 per person (children) before entering the longhouse. This is collected by the village's committee (not us) as a community fund that will be used to maintain the Annah Rais longhouse original structure & to preserve the Bidayuh's cultures!
3. Look for Mr Edward Gunui (Homestay Coordinator) @ door no. 71 - After paying for the entrance ticket, you are free to roam around the whole village. By then, please proceed to the door no. 71 at the second stretch of longhouse. You will enter from the first longhouse, then cross the bridge, you will find the second longhouse, proceed to door 71, Mr Edward will be greeting you there.
